Paul duBois Reymond publishes account of Karl Weierstrass pathological function which is continuous at every point but differentiable nowhere. Karl first discovered this function in the 1860’s. If \(a\geq 3\) is an odd integer and if \(0<b<1\) such that \(ab>1+\frac {3 \pi }{2}\) then the function \(f(x)=\sum _{k=0}^{\infty } b^k \cos (\pi a^k x)\) is such.
